You are guaranteed a Legendary, with 10% chance for Ancient. You have control over the slot in which the item goes.Ĭompletely awful for getting weapons, since the drop pools are only based on 1h/2h division and not weapon type ( also see this chart ) Supplies a lot of Blood Shards (Greater Rifts only) If you can farm rifts REALLY quickly, may be the most convenient You have no guarantee for a Legendary, let alone Ancient Last season I did a shitload of ~3 min GR55s and GR60s to get better items. Without an in-depth knowledge of how the game code works, I’m unsure how possible this is in reality.Īll of this to say, is there a known condition that triggers the switch that prevents primal ancient items from dropping after hitting greater rift level 70? Thanks in advance for the responses!Įdit: I just found myself a primal Razor Strop from an ancient vault.Depends on which assets you have the most of. All of this has led me to wonder whether I’ve somehow triggered a race condition that re-flipped the in game switch which prevents primal ancients from dropping. During that time, I’ve hit paragon level 1065, completed approximately 220 greater rifts of level 100 or greater, spent approximately 95,000 blood shards, upgraded approximately 70 rares to legendaries, and reforged a legendary about 20 times. When I hit GR70, I found a primal ancient on consecutive runs, and haven’t found a primal since that point. Specifically, I seem to have had a statistically unlikely run of not finding primal ancients, even taking the low probability into account. My question is specifically scoped to whether there’s a known issue where this switch is mistakenly set after hitting GR70. Until a character hits GR70, primals cannot drop. Statistical anomalies exist, and sometimes one might go through a significant drought of not finding any.Īll that being said, there IS a switch in the game that controls whether primals are dropped in general. I know primals drop at approximately a 1/400 rate, which does NOT mean getting 400 legendaries guarantees a primal ancient. I’ve done my best to keep that in mind, and if the ultimate answer is that “it’s just RNG”, I’m willing to accept that. As a preface, I’d like to say that I’m fully aware of how rare primal ancients are, and that it’s entirely RNG driven when you get primal ancients.
